Vanessa and Carmen honoured RMHC Toronto by including a donation on their special day.

Newlyweds Vanessa and Carmen gave a generous donation to RMHC Toronto in lieu of wedding favours for their recent wedding. The couple met in high school and Carmen proposed to Vanessa nine years later on a beautiful summer night.

Growing up as the son of local McDonald’s restaurant Owner/Operator Frank Magno, Carmen knew firsthand the impact that RMHC Toronto has on the families who rely on it.

“RMHC Toronto is the heart of McDonald’s. My dad is a huge supporter, from raising money on McHappy Day to making personal donations, so it was always important to me.”

While Vanessa is new to the McDonald’s family, she says she loves being part of it and is forever drinking McDonald’s coffee, “I couldn’t live without it before I met Carmen and I certainly can’t live without it now!”

No stranger to the food service business herself, Vanessa runs her own custom cookie business and loves to create edible art for her customers’ special occasions. That’s why, in order to create special wedding favours for their guests, Vanessa baked 300 homemade cookies with labels letting guests know a donation was made in their honour to RMHC Toronto.

“We knew we wanted to do something meaningful, not your typical wedding favours,” she says. “For us, it was important to incorporate philanthropy, and RMHC Toronto was the obvious choice. It was our pleasure to include RMHC Toronto in our special day.”

Vanessa and Carmen’s donation provided 27 nights of comfort for families who needed to travel for their child’s medical care. We’re so thankful for this generous support and for being included in Vanessa and Carmen’s big day. Congratulations to the newlyweds and their families!
