New campaign shows family is integral in a child’s treatment journey.

The importance of family is something all Canadians can relate to – now more than ever. In fact, 64% of Canadians say their family has been a source of support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In early 2020, the provincial government formally recogiznied RMHC Toronto as an essential service. Even throughout the pandemic, RMHC Toronto continued to support families at the House every single day. RMHC Toronto never stopped delivering our mission of keeping families together while prioritizing the health and safety of our families, volunteers, and staff.

Together, we have supported the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of our families – one family at a time. We continue to be motivated by our commitment to alleviate as much of the burden on families with a seriously ill child as we can.

To support the great work happening in each Chapter, RMHC Canada has created a national campaign to raise awareness about our mission.

Family is Medicine aims to help Canadians understand the important role that family plays in a child’s treatment journey, and how RMHC supports families across its Houses and Family Rooms each and every day.

“RMHC is a significant partner in supporting both family centred care and the broader health care system in Canada, partnering with children’s hospitals to help fill a gap in services that hospitals otherwise can’t,” says Karima Karmali, Director of the Centre for Innovation and Excellence in Child and Family-Centred Care at SickKids and Vice Chair, RMHC Canada Board of Directors.

The need for our essential service, and enabling access to children’s hospitals across the country, has never been more critical.

Please donate now so we can continue our collective mission of keeping families with a seriously ill child together.
