Since 1981, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) Toronto has served as a place to call home for families with seriously ill children undergoing treatment. RMHC Toronto encompasses a House for 81 families in downtown Toronto and seven Family Rooms in hospitals across the Greater Toronto Area and in Sudbury. The families we serve come from throughout Ontario, across Canada and around the world.

We are looking for a Director, Marketing and Communications, to join our team on a 14-month parental coverage contract at the House located at 240 McCaul Street, Toronto, On.   

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the VP, Marketing and Development, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Marketing & Communications to join our team. The Director will oversee the RMHC Toronto brand strategy, direct response portfolio, develop and implement marketing communications, media, and public relations plans, and lead a team of two marketing and communication specialists.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Implement a multi-year brand strategy for RMHC Toronto that aligns to the standards and guidelines of RMHC Canada & RMHC Toronto.
  • Collaborate with the Development and Programs & Services teams to enhance storytelling and messaging, increasing program visibility, services and communities served, and strengthening fundraising, sponsorships, and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with RMHC Canada, Regional Chapters and Toronto teams to deliver measurable impact and growth in communications, in support of strategic and annual plans related to brand, marketing, programs, services, fundraising, community and government relations.
  •  Collaborate with an agency of record on a comprehensive marketing strategy and integrated direct response program aligned with organizational goals across various digital and social channels in alignment with RMHC Toronto brand, programs, services, and development opportunities.
  • Enhance social media presence across RMHC Toronto platforms to engage a broader audience and develop data-driven social media strategies to increase engagement rates and optimize results.
  • Oversee the development of compelling relationship-building strategies with key community stakeholders including media and government.
  • Manage donor and prospect data to expand our reach, enhance engagement, and support donor stewardship.
  • Oversee the development of communication materials such as the annual report, newsletters, key stakeholder communications, stewardship materials and website content.
  • Liaise with staff, families, and volunteers in a variety of forums to engage their involvement in community mobilization projects.
  • Develop integrated marketing communications strategies, plans and campaigns that promote RMHC Toronto and its impactful work to diverse communities.
  • Oversee the development and management of the marketing communications budget and financial reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years’ previous experience in marketing and development in a non-profit organization.
  • Solid experience in brand development and strategic planning skills with the ability to develop and execute multi-year marketing and communication programs.
  • Proven track record in generating new revenue through direct marketing.
  • Strong skills in digital marketing platforms.
  • Proven success in managing departmental budgets and leveraging both relationships and partnerships to scale value.
  • Experience leading, managing and developing a team.
  • Experience working in the charity or not-for-profit sector is an asset.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong leadership skills, and demonstrated ability to foster and maintain relationships, as well as coach, develop and mentor staff and volunteers
  • Knowledge of CRA regulations for charities.
  • Strong project management and analytical skills with the ability to translate strategy into actionable plans.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present and clarify concerns and concepts to various audiences at all levels of the business.
  • Exemplary collaboration and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build consensus and develop and maintain relationships. Ability to work effectively within a team, as well as independently.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the abilities to manage multiple deliverables in a time-sensitive environment and adapt to frequently changing priorities.
  • Ability to travel locally when required.

REQUIREMENTS:

Completion of satisfactory reference check and a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check.
