A message from Sally Ginter, CEO of RMHC Toronto.

Dear friends,

In my last message to you, I said I would provide an update on our mission delivery during this unpredictable time. I have some positive news to share about how we are continuing to deliver exceptional care to families with seriously ill children.

Since we were deemed an essential service by the Province of Ontario, we have continued to keep families together as we navigate COVID-19 by adapting our services and investing in new infrastructure to keep families, our staff, and the community safe.

In March, following guidelines set by RMHC Global, we paused admissions at the House and temporarily closed our seven in-hospital Family Rooms as we enhanced our safety protocols and procedures. In the months that followed, we worked closely with our local public health authorities and hospital partners to continue our essential mission delivery while mitigating risks.

Starting in June, we began admitting additional families to the House, and in August, we re-opened our Family Room at SickKids to support family members who are staying by their child’s bedside. RMHC Toronto staff are working with our community stakeholders to determine when we may safely re-open our Family Rooms in Credit Valley, Scarborough Health Network, Markham Stouffville Hospital, and Health Sciences North in Sudbury.

Thank you for your support during this challenging and unpredictable time. Because of you, we can deliver compassionate hospitality to families. Together, we are making a great impact on the lives of families who need us the most.

With sincere appreciation,

Sally Ginter
CEO
