New award honours Ami Armagost for demonstrating these traits.

Ami Armagost is the kind of person you just can’t help but like.

As Program Coordinator at RMHC Toronto, it’s her job to develop and lead activities that help families have fun, learn and feel just a little more normal during an otherwise difficult time. Families often comment how important she is to their experiences here.

Now her colleagues have chimed in with a similar tribute.

Earlier this month, Ami was awarded the Anita Price Award of Excellence.

Chosen by their peers, the award is presented annually to an RMHC Toronto employee who demonstrates exemplary compassion, teamwork and resiliency in supporting our mission of keeping families close.

The award is named after Anita Price, the inaugural recipient, who recently retired after three decades of service to RMHC Toronto as an employee, and prior to that as a Board Director and volunteer.

“The Anita Price Award of Excellence is a meaningful opportunity for our staff to nominate and select a peer deserving of this recognition. I am delighted they selected Ami as she is highly deserving of this honour,” says Sally Ginter, RMHC Toronto CEO. “It is also an annual reminder of the decades of compassionate service Anita Price generously gave and the positive impact she had on the lives of hundreds of our families.”

Ami joined the organization as a volunteer in May 2015 after earning her master’s degree in Early Childhood Studies and was hired two months later to join our programs team.

“I’m always trying to plan big parties and new, cool events, but at the end of the day, if a child is smiling and enjoying family time together, that’s a great outcome for me.

“I work with so many talented and compassionate people, so to receive this award from people I admire means so much to me. Not only do I get to do a job I love, but I get to do it with an incredible team. I’m really lucky.”
